For the Contractor: PPR pipe runs 20–63mm outer diameter in PN20 and PN25 pressure classes, matched to fittings of the same resin and color. PN20 is rated for roughly 20 bar and PN25 for roughly 25 bar at 20 °C; the higher rating and composite (fiber-glass / aluminium) layers suit hot-water and heating circuits, while PN20 suits general cold/hot water. For the Project / Heating Buyer: Yes. Aluminium-composite (PPR-AL-PPR) and fiber-glass PPR pipe reduce thermal expansion and, for aluminium, add an oxygen barrier, important for underfloor heating, radiators and solar hot water where plain PPR would sag or expand. For the Wholesaler: Three jobs, three systems. PPR (heat-fused, PN20/PN25) is for pressurized hot and cold water indoors. HDPE / PP compression fittings (mechanical, no welding, PN10) are for outdoor cold water, irrigation and municipal supply, including saddle clamps and Anne Panaflexe ball valves. Different systems join differently, and getting the joint right is what makes PPR leak-free for decades. Here is how each system connects, and the tools we can supply with the order.
For the Contractor / Installer: PPR is joined by heat (socket) fusion: a welding machine heats the pipe end and fitting socket to melt temperature, they’re pushed together, and the molten resin fuses into a single homogeneous joint with no gasket to fail. For the Irrigation / Municipal Buyer: No welding. HDPE / PP compression fittings use a mechanical compression joint, you tighten the nut and the fitting grips the HDPE pipe, rated PN10. For the Project Buyer: PP silent drainage (DN 50–200) uses a rubber gasket (push-fit) seal, no welding, fast to assemble, and the material and wall build damp the sound of falling water, which is why it’s specified as “low-noise” for buildings.
