Four Pillars, One Sourcing Decision

Sourcing piping isn’t one question, it’s five, in order: Is this a real factory? Which spec do I need? Will the certifications clear customs? How is it installed? How do I import it cost-effectively? We’ve organised every guide into four pillars that follow that exact buying journey, so you can jump straight to the answer you need. Every spec figure below comes from our own catalogue, PN ratings, 20–63mm sizing with real wall thickness, SKZ/CE/WRAS, not from a template. Think of this page as the map; each guide is the road, and every road eventually leads back to a real quote from our export desk.

New here? A 30-second glossary before you dive in, so the guides read fast:

TermIn one line
PPRPolypropylene Random copolymer, the plastic used for hot- and cold-water pressure pipe, joined by heat fusion, not glue.
PNPressure Nominal, the pipe’s pressure class at 20 °C in bar. PN20 = 20 bar, PN25 = 25 bar reference rating.
ODOuter diameter in mm, how PPR is sized worldwide (20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63 mm), not by the inch thread.
Heat fusionWelding two PPR parts by melting their faces at ~260 °C and pressing them into one continuous, leak-free joint.
Composite pipePPR with an aluminium (PPR-AL-PPR) or fibreglass middle layer that cuts thermal expansion for heating lines.
FOBFree On Board, a price that stops at the loaded ship; you arrange freight. The basis most importers compare on.
Pillar 1 · Sourcing & import

Buy From the Right Factory, Land It Cheaply

The biggest import risks aren’t the pipe, they’re the supplier and the container. These guides help importers and sourcing agents vet a real manufacturer instead of a trader in a rented office, calculate FOB pricing properly (not just unit price), and load a container efficiently, because PPR is light and bulky and loadability decides your landed cost as much as the sticker price does.

A trader will quote you a low number and disappear when a batch runs off-colour or a certificate is questioned at customs. A factory owns the extrusion lines, the 10,000 moulds and the test lab, so it can hold PN ratings batch to batch, reissue documents, and back a private-label programme. The guides below give you the checklist to tell one from the other before you wire a deposit.

  • Vet a real factory vs a trader before you send an enquiry
  • FOB vs CIF, loadability and the true landed-cost breakdown
  • Export docs, lead times and shipping to 118+ countries
  • How much PPR actually fits a 20′ vs a 40′ container

Pillar 2 · Specs & sizing

Pick the Rating and Diameter That Won’t Fail

Wrong pressure rating bursts; wrong diameter fails inspection. This pillar turns spec confusion into simple charts, using our real range: PPR in PN20 and PN25, outer diameters from 20mm to 63mm, in pure PPR plus aluminium- (PPR-AL-PPR) and fibreglass-composite options for heating. Below is the actual wall-thickness table from our catalogue, grab the numbers here, then request the full spec sheet to quote or submit for approval.

The wall-thickness and quick-reference tables above are drawn straight from the Bekaatherm catalogue, pure PPR plus aluminium-composite and fibreglass-composite construction, moulded to match on 10,000 in-house tools. PN25 always carries a thicker wall than PN20 at the same diameter; the composite constructions add an aluminium or glass layer to cut thermal expansion on heating lines rather than to change the pressure class.

The Range Behind the Guides

Every guide on this page describes real parts we extrude and mould. Here’s a look at the PPR pipe, fittings, valves and manifolds our technical team writes about, the same range that ships to 118+ countries in Green, White and Coffee series.

Pillar 3 · Certifications & quality

Clear Customs, Pass Inspection, Sleep at Night

Certifications are your customs pass and your inspection defence, but only if you know which one does what. Our pipe systems carry Germany’s SKZ (described in the industry as one of the strictest audits, it certifies product quality and supervises the factory), plus ISO TYPE-5, CE and WRAS. These guides explain what each proves, which markets need which, and how to verify any supplier’s claim before you commit, because a logo printed on a brochure is not the same as a live, verifiable certificate.

Pillar 4 · Welding & install

Leak-Free Joints, Done Right

PPR’s advantage over PVC and push-fit systems is the heat-fusion joint: welded correctly, it’s effectively one continuous, leak-free pipe with no glue, no rubber ring and nothing to loosen over time. Welded wrong, off temperature or timing, it hides a failure inside the wall that only shows up months later. These guides give installers and contractors the temperatures, timings and tooling to get it right the first time, and cover the welding machines and PTFE tools we supply alongside the pipe.

  • Heat-fusion temperatures (~260 °C), heat/cool timing per diameter
  • Hot-melt welding machine (BK-222), pipe cutter (BK-221) and PTFE tape (BK-220)
  • The common mistakes that hide a failure inside the joint wall
  • Why a fused joint beats push-fit for hot water and heating

Questions Buyers Ask the Knowledge Hub

Short answers by buyer role, so you know whether these guides fit your job before you read them.

Do these guides use real specs or generic template numbers?

For the project buyer: Real. The wall-thickness table on this page is our actual catalogue data, PPR plain, PPR-AL-PPR and fibreglass in PN20 and PN25 across 20–63mm, the same figures you’d submit for approval.

For the OEM brand: Because we extrude and mould in-house on 10,000 tools, the numbers you read here are the numbers we produce and can hold batch to batch.

Which pillar should I start with?

For the importer: Start with Sourcing & Import, vetting the factory, FOB pricing and container loading protect your landed cost before anything else matters.

For the contractor: Start with Specs & Sizing for PN and diameter, then Welding & Install so your crew joins it correctly on site.

For the distributor: Start with Certifications & Quality, it’s the language your downstream buyers and inspectors care about most.

Can I get the certificate numbers and price list from here?

For everyone: Certificate copies for SKZ, ISO TYPE-5, CE and WRAS are available on request, and the full catalogue and price list is emailed on enquiry so we can keep you updated when specs or prices change. Use any “Get a Quote” or “Download the Catalogue” button, or the contact page.

Do you supply to single-item retail buyers?

For the sourcing agent: No, we supply PPR, PE and drainage piping systems wholesale to importers, distributors, contractors and OEM brands. Low MOQ applies; specific terms are quoted on request. The guides are written for that professional audience.

PPR, PEX or copper, what do these guides cover?

For the contractor: These guides cover PPR pressure systems and PE/HDPE and UPVC drainage, the ranges we manufacture. Where useful we compare against PVC, push-fit and the PEX/copper common in some markets, but our production line is PPR-based, joined by heat fusion rather than crimp rings or solder.
